How can you really know the origin of a passion? It may have been passed on to you by family or friend, but who imparted it in them, and the one before them, and the one before them…?  For museum co-founder, Luke Garrett, he describes his passion for motorcycles as arriving in the form of osmosis. “I grew up in a home where motorcycles were everywhere and all the time”, says Luke when asked about his introduction to two wheels. That relationship with motorcycles, and the men and women who rode, restored, and collected them, started Luke down the path of assembling his own collection and ultimately sharing that with the public with the opening of Flying G Motorcycle Museum & Art in October 2024. The museum is located in beautiful downtown Joaquin, Texas and is open on Fridays and Saturdays from April through November and is free to the public. It boasts a world-class collection of motorcycles and art and serves as the perfect road trip destination. Joaquin is situated in the heart of the Piney Woods of East Texas and is home to some of the best motorcycle roads in Southern United States. Spend a weekend winding your way on the two-lane roads through the Sabine and Angelina National Forests. Enjoy some of the best cafes and restaurants experiencing the gastronomy that the region is known for. Ride along on the El Camino Real, one of the oldest routes in Texas. There is so much to see and do in addition to the museum.
